Do you have the MNCHS?

I certainly do. With a name like MNCHS (munchies), you better bring the heat. Now that issue 2 has passed, things can only go up from here. Am I right?

MNCHS has been one of my go to spots forever. Newark is a quick ride outside of Columbus, and their former trailer at Dankhouse was a total vibe. It's no surprise the brick n mortar is no different.

I'm a huge fan of the tropical vibe rebrand. The interior is pink flamingo themed, with palm trees and tons of natural lighting.

The space is large and welcoming. It even features a drive thru for those who want to munch on the go.

The menu has changed and I'm not mad about it. Several proteins, including carne asada, cod fish, and vegan jackfruit have been added.

I ordered the OG Birria, along with the fried cod, carne asada, and carnitas tacos. Note the cod comes grilled or fried. I absolutely love the variety and inclusivity they are giving here.

Let's Review:

BIRRIA:

🔸MNCHS hands down has one of the best birrias in Central Ohio. Tender, seasoned, with a hint of cinnamon. MNCHS jokes that they have terrible tacos, however, I assure you this birria recipe is authentic, and the taste proves it to be so. If you're a true birria connoisseur, you will enjoy this.

CARNE ASADA:

🔸I am so glad they added this. Steak tacos are my favorite. This taco was loaded with tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned steak. It comes with green salsa, which was refreshing and paired well with the steak flavor. Personally, I wish I had added some hot sauce for a little spice on this, but it still was incredibly delicious. Definitely give this a try.

FRIED COD:

🔸HOLY MOLY 🤯. Got a delicious fish taco? Sign me up everytime. This is another new addition and it was spectacular. The fish was fried very well and the baja sauce on it was crazy good. I do not care for cole slaw, so opted to get it without that. This taco did not need it at all in my opinion. I cannot wait to go back and try the grilled version of this. This is seriously one of the best fish tacos I've ever had.

CARNITAS:

If you like chipotle flavor and tender pulled pork certainly give this a try. It's certainly a unique spin on traditional carnitas, but still pretty tasty nonetheless.

POTELOTE:

This is my second favorite appetizer at MNCHS. Can you guess what the first is? Anyway, this is exactly what it sounds like. Tater tots tossed in Elote fixings. The tots are crispy and delicious. If you enjoy tots and elotes, this is a must try.

If you haven't been to MNCHS (yes, it's pronounced munchies) I highly recommend paying them a visit. If my review wasn't enough to sway you, they just announced weekly menu specials.

This list of munchies includes birria grilled cheese, birria egg rolls, and my personal favorite, the lot lizard. The specials alone are worth the trip from Columbus.
